Welcome
to the Dorchester Youth Soccer Web site. Dorchester Youth Soccer has
been in existence for 22 years. Dorchester Youth Soccer provides youth
soccer opportunities for boys and girls from the ages of four to fifteen
years of age from Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury and other parts of the
City of Boston and surrounding areas. Dorchester Youth Soccer is divided
into three components; the clinic program, the house program and the
travel program. All of the soccer matches are played at Pope John Paul
II Park in Dorchester.
The
Clinic Program
The
clinic program provides soccer opportunites for children ages four and
five. The clinic operates in the fall and spring for one hour, either
on Saturday or Sunday. The program is designed to teach the children
the basics and fundamentals of soccer.
The
House Program
The
house program is conducted during the fall. The fall season begins the
weekend after the Labor day weekend and ends on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
All the children who play in the house program are given trophies for
participating in the league on Trophy Day which celebrates the end of
soccer season.
The house program consists of four separate divisions:
The first division is the under-9 co-ed division for children who are
6, 7 and 8 years of age.
The
second division of the house program is the co-ed under-12 division
for children who are 8, 9, 10 and 11 years of age.
The
third division of the house program is the girls under-15 division.
The division is for girls who are 12, 13 and 14 years of age.
The
final division of the house program is the U-15 Boys division. The division
is for boys 12, 13 and 14 years of age.
Travel
Program
The
third component is the travel program. In this program there are separate
teams for boys and girls. The teams are entered into a league known
as the Boston Area Youth Soccer League ( BAYS). BAYS provides play in
under 9, under 10, under11, etc., categories for boys and girls. Each
age group is broken into four divisions ( Division 1 being the most
competitive). Each division is further broken down into a number of
sections (section A being the most competitive) depending upon how many
teams have registered. Sections consist of a total of six teams and
each team plays each of the other teams in its section twice a season
(10 matches) one at home and one on the road. It gives chidren from
Dorchester an opportunity to travel to other communites and it gives
other communites and opportunity to come to Dorchester. The travel program
plays during both the fall and spring. The travel program's fall season
is the same as the fall season for the house program. The spring season
usually begins on the first Sunday in April and ends on the second weekend
in June (approximately).
